INTRODUCTION

The formal or informal education received by children since birth to the age of six is known as Early Childhood Education (ECE). Children undergo major developmental changes in terms of social, emotional, critical cognitive and physical skills. They are trained to undergo these changes using various activities prior to their entry into Elementary School. Hence, educating children at this stage can have a long-term positive impact on their life. Exact definition of ECE is the education received by a child from the age three to six. Providing early childhood education gives the child a proper head start to the future. The definition given by UNESCO says "Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is more than preparation for primary school. It aims at the holistic development of a child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs in order to build a solid and broad foundation of lifelong learning and well-being".
